Part 6: Personal Note, Symbolic Call to Unity, and Closing

On a personal note, my own modest involvement in this broader dialogue between India and the Jewish people is deeply rooted in lived experience. In the early 2000s, while living as neighbors in the Tel Aviv University dorms, I formed a close friendship with Dr. Navras Aafreedi — then a young scholar researching Indo-Judaic relations, Holocaust memory in India, and the historical intersections of our communities. During that time, I translated into high-quality Russian an article written by Agniva Banerji (not by Navras himself), and the translation was published on Navras Aafreedi’s blog as well as on websites such as Russian America and Arutz 7 in Russian. Dr. Aafreedi later wrote a testimonial on my behalf (dated March 14, 2008), praising the translation’s accuracy and professionalism. In his note, he described me as a capable journalist, documentary filmmaker, and researcher in the field of Indo-Judaic studies, and expressed full confidence in my ability to handle further translation and research tasks. He also referenced his own seminal work, including the doctoral thesis and e-book The Indian and Self-Perceived Lost Tribes of Israel in India (2006). You can read his original testimonial and related blog post here:

For additional context on Dr. Aafreedi’s pioneering efforts to document and bridge Indian and Jewish identities, see this profile article from The Times of India:
“When Pathan called a Jew”

That friendship — born in the shared dorms of Tel Aviv University — deepened my lifelong fascination with the historical, cultural, and symbolic bridges between India and the Jewish people. It is in this spirit of personal connection, scholarly inquiry, and shared wonder that I offer these reflections.A Symbolic Call to Unity in Our TimeHonorable Prime Minister, your words may transcend diplomacy. They read as a modern mythic invocation: Israel (celestial Enki-Anu / Anokhi lineage — fatherland of order, wisdom, and resilience) and India (earthly Shakti-Shiva-Brahma — motherland of regeneration, depth, and renewal) reuniting in hieros gamos — restoring balance, reactivating ancient complementary poles in a world facing existential challenges (ongoing regional conflicts, the weaponization of AI, ecological collapse, fears of engineered depopulation, and spiritual disconnection). The India–Israel partnership already transcends the material: it is a living fusion of precision and vision (Israel) with scale and spiritual vitality (India). In mythic terms, this is the father-sky bringing structure and knowledge, the mother-earth bringing nurturing power and rebirth. Together, they may help midwife a new equilibrium — healing fragmentation and reminding humanity of its shared cosmic heritage. My own small contribution — translating Agniva Banerji’s article as a favor to my neighbor and friend Dr. Navras Aafreedi — is but one thread in this vast, millennia-old tapestry of connection. I humbly urge you and your administration to reflect on these illuminated layers — not as speculation, but as recognition that words carry profound archetypal force. Perhaps your speech was history’s quiet call to complete an ancient circle, to heal division, and to birth a new harmony.Should you or your office ever wish to explore these themes — even informally — I remain available for dialogue. With profound respect for your service to India, gratitude for the inspiration your words have provided, and sincere hope that this letter may contribute — even in the smallest way — to understanding and unity,I remain,Alexander Levites
