Poison Candy
The Florida Department of Health (FDOH) under the Healthy Florida First initiative finds 78% of tested popular candy brands (Three Musketeers, Snickers, Skittles, Nerds, Kit Kats SweeTarts, Twizzlers, Sour Patch Kids, Jolly Rancher, Nerds, Jolly Ranchers and others) contain elevated levels of arsenic.
Arsenic is a known human carcinogen. Long-term exposure, even at low levels, has been consistently associated with:
- lower IQ scores
- learning and memory difficulties
- attention and behavioral problems
- slower cognitive processing
- disrupting neuronal signaling
- increasing oxidative stress (cell damage from free radicals)
- altering gene expression involved in brain development
- reduced white blood cell function
- impaired antibody production
- weaker responses to infections
- more frequent infections
- longer recovery times
- Inflammation
- skin cancer
- bladder cancer
- lung cancer
- liver cancer
These findings come from epidemiological studies in multiple countries, not just one-off reports.
